Nicaragua La Escondida Natural Laurina, Los Favoritos [Green Coffee]

La Escondida is one of 11 plots in Finca Mierisch’s Nicaragua plantations. Located in Jinotega, the 70 hectare farm sits at a modest 975-1230 meters. Though of a low perceived growing altitude, Erwin Jr. - the producers - has seen the low-caffeine varietal response best in production, plant health and cup quality to lower altitudes. 

Laurinas are some of our favourite coffee varietals, due to its low caffeine natural and thus the relative sweetness. This lot underwent traditional Natural Processing and was slowly sun dried for 32 days in a greenhouse with raised beds and 75% shade. This extended drying contributed to its nuanced flavour development which was reflected in it being one of Finca Mierisch’s top Laurina lots of the harvest, and its highest scoring Laurina Lot in the Los Favoritos 2023 auctions.
